Almost all people in the dormitory were gathered tonight to see the finals of Eurovision song contest. Finland wan with Lordi the monster heavy metal band “impressing” the audience. It was indeed a good move for Finland. I suppose innovation is everything these days, and they were indeed “unlike” the other contestants. Romania came 4th.

It’s sad but I almost can’t wait too! I’m going home in less than a month! My flight back to Bucharest is on June 16, the same day when Mario comes back from Germany. But we won’t meet :( because I leave in the morning and he comes at night. I miss my family a [...]

Mohan is our great chef from India. Last night he made noodle soup and lasagna for us. It was some sort of a good-bye dinner for Eduard (he’s leaving to Girona for one week, but he’s coming back). The lasagna was delicious! We ate so much food and it all started with my apple pie. [...]
pie de manzana

I made apple pie for the first time, celebrating my SPACE exam result. I was so happy yesterday – overjoyed. We had this “experiment pie” for a snack, before Mohan’s lasagna dinner. Why experiment? First of all it was “a first”. Then, Mario was creative and added sugar syrup to “un-dry” the pie and we [...]

Eugenia cooked Spanish tortilla, supervised by Eduard. We were all very hungry, and the tortilla wasn’t enough, so Mario cooked some extra pasta experimenting it with soy sauce and salt only. We had Gallo (beer from Guate) and a summerish tomato salad.Tonight I’m going to sleep before midnight.I started learning Spanish online.Duerme bien y sueña [...]
oil prices

“What might cause house prices around the world to fall and consumers quickly to close their wallets? The answer is high oil prices. With oil demand growing strongly and production and refinery capacity unusually tight, prices are likely to stay high in 2006. Oil prices have more than tripled since late 2001, a rise similar [...]
Den Smagløse Cafe

After Guatemalan dinner, Mohan wanted to celebrate the good “party mood” he’d been in all day. I joined him, Fabi and Eduard to this Danish-style cafe. I remembered Mads always talked about Smagløse. It’s a different place, out-of-the-ordinary. I had a huge tea called Husets Te. Fabi had H.C.Andersen’s Te. Good and relaxing atmosphere for [...]
Guatemalan dinner+Fiorentinian tiramisu

Mario cooked a delicious Guatemalan dish tonight for dinner. I learned how to make it, but I would need special seasoning (mil tomate) for this, which cannot be found in Europe, or at least not that I know of. We had a good time, and Eduard made tiramisu from scratch, all by himself, supervised by [...]
